Remote Senior Data Engineer

Description:

• Cylinder is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to enhance the reusability, scalability, and efficiency of data engineering processes and infrastructure.
• The role involves addressing challenging data ingestion, ETL/ELT, and access issues, understanding stakeholder needs, and delivering scalable solutions.
• Responsibilities include designing and improving data pipelines, data testing, and quality controls while minimizing disruptions.
• The position requires collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and promoting best practices in coding and data management.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing automated data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, databases, and workflow engines.
• Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) frameworks like BigQuery, Vertex AI Platform, IAM, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Composer/Airflow, DLP, etc.
• Strong skills in SQL, Python, and software engineering principles.
• Experience with DBT or similar data transformation frameworks.
• Ability to analyze and optimize system performance and improve data warehouse pipelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bonus qualifications include experience with Terraform, medical/healthcare data, HIPAA regulations, and an advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
