Welo Data is seeking a Senior Data Engineer/Architect to design, implement, and maintain databases, data warehousing systems, and data processing architectures.
The role involves managing and safeguarding the company's data, developing strategies for data acquisition, and optimizing data retrieval to meet company and client needs.
Responsibilities include designing and managing large-scale data architectures, overseeing the development of databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
The engineer will evaluate and enhance the performance of data management systems to meet technical and business requirements.
They will develop and implement data governance policies to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
The position requires coordination with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and IT staff, to optimize data solutions.
The engineer will lead the data architecture vision and strategy, presenting to stakeholders and executive teams.
They will review existing systems for improvement opportunities and stay updated on industry developments and best practices.
The role includes mentoring junior data engineers and promoting a culture of continuous learning within the team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer or in a higher role within a professional environment.
Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and robust data architectures is required.
Candidates should have expertise in machine learning pipelining, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Strong skills in logical and physical data modeling, with the ability to design optimized data structures for machine learning applications, are necessary.
Proficiency in big data management tools (like Hadoop, Spark) and machine learning development tools (like Python, R, TensorFlow) is essential.
Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex data and optimize data pipelines.
Excellent communication skills are required to articulate complex data architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Project management skills to manage and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines are necessary.
Continuous learning and keeping up-to-date with trends in data architecture and machine learning is expected.
