Description:
Virta Health is seeking a Senior Data Engineer, Analytics to help transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care through technology and personalized nutrition.
The role involves building and scaling the data foundation for the company, focusing on architecting data models, optimizing pipelines, and enhancing analytics.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining ELT data pipelines using tools like dbt, Dagster, and GCP, as well as building and optimizing data models for analytics and reporting.
The engineer will collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to create self-service analytics tools using Looker and Amplitude, ensuring data quality and integrity through testing and documentation.
The position requires monitoring and improving analytics database performance on BigQuery and automating data pipeline workflows for scalability.
The first 90 days will involve onboarding, leading the migration of Looker, auditing the current data stack, executing quick wins for data reliability, establishing best practices, and aligning on future strategy.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5 to 8 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required, with strong coursework in databases, data structures, and system design, or equivalent industry experience.
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python is necessary, along with experience in cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery), analytics pipeline tools (e.g., dbt, Dagster, Airflow), and self-service analytics tools (e.g., Looker).
A solid understanding of analytics database concepts, ELT pipelines, and best practices in data modeling is essential.
The ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver impactful solutions is required.
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building scalable data solutions are necessary.
Experience in the healthcare industry or handling sensitive data is a plus.
Benefits:
The compensation range for this role is $167,249 - $216,000, based on qualifications and experience.
As a remote-first company, Virta offers flexibility in work location, with office hubs in Denver and San Francisco.
