Description:

The Senior Data Engineer will lead efforts to leverage data for maximum value at Dwolla, which processes billions in payments monthly.
This role involves developing and executing a technical vision for AWS-based data pipelines.
The engineer will support new product offerings and business intelligence development while ensuring system performance.
Responsibilities include building and growing the Dwolla data lake and data pipelines (50% of time), defining and implementing DataOps methodologies (20%), writing and optimizing queries and reports (20%), and supporting existing databases (10%).
The team values collaboration, learning, and mastery of craft, with a focus on proactive communication.
The ideal candidate is a driven self-starter who stays updated on industry trends and has a skill set in AWS DataLake technologies, Python, and SQL.

Requirements:

Candidates must have experience designing, building, monitoring, and maintaining AWS-based data pipelines and warehousing tools.
Proficiency in writing and optimizing Python code for ETL jobs is required.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD principles is essential.
Candidates should have experience with AWS database technologies and be able to advise on implementations and troubleshooting.
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and communication skills are necessary.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a closely-related role is typically required, with education and certifications valued.
