Description:
Discogs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their team and contribute to marketing initiatives.
The role involves building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports marketing strategies, providing actionable insights for growth and engagement in the music industry.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing robust and scalable data pipelines while ensuring data integrity and quality.
The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate closely with marketing, product, and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
The position is remote, open to candidates located in OR, WA, CA, CO, TX, and IL.
The starting contract rate is $65.00 to $75.00 per hour.
Requirements:
Proficiency in data integration and ETL processes is required.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Javascript is necessary.
Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is essential.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) is required.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams are required.
Experience with marketing automation platforms and data warehouses in a marketing context is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, preferably within an e-commerce or marketplace environment, is required.
Experience with data pipeline tools and technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Nifi, Apache Airflow) is required.
Strong experience with MySQL and database management is necessary.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of API integration and data exchange formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV.
Experience in the music industry or a strong personal interest in vinyl records is preferred.
Experience with BI tools and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) is preferred.
