Description:

  • Discogs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their team and contribute to marketing initiatives.
  • The role involves building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports marketing strategies, providing actionable insights for growth and engagement in the music industry.
  • Responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing robust and scalable data pipelines while ensuring data integrity and quality.
  • The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate closely with marketing, product, and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • The position is remote, open to candidates located in OR, WA, CA, CO, TX, and IL.
  • The starting contract rate is $65.00 to $75.00 per hour.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in data integration and ETL processes is required.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Javascript is necessary.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is essential.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams are required.
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms and data warehouses in a marketing context is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, preferably within an e-commerce or marketplace environment, is required.
  • Experience with data pipeline tools and technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Nifi, Apache Airflow) is required.
  • Strong experience with MySQL and database management is necessary.
  • Preferred qualifications include knowledge of API integration and data exchange formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV.
  • Experience in the music industry or a strong personal interest in vinyl records is preferred.
  • Experience with BI tools and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) is preferred.
