Description:
theScore is a subsidiary of PENN Entertainment, providing digital media and sports betting products to millions of sports fans.
The role is part of the Data Engineering team, focusing on developing high-quality data-driven solutions to enhance profitability, growth, and user experience.
Responsibilities include collaborating with various teams to build data pipelines, overseeing the design and maintenance of these pipelines, and ensuring data integrity and performance in the data lake.
The position requires writing tests and documentation for processes and tooling, adapting to new technologies, and maintaining existing systems and infrastructure.
The candidate will take ownership of projects and collaborate with Analytics and Reporting teams.
Requirements:
A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data or software engineering is necessary.
Strong knowledge of Python, streaming technologies like Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes is essential.
Proficiency in relational databases and SQL is required.
Experience in building scalable infrastructure and data ingestion from Third-Party APIs is needed.
Familiarity with RedShift, BigQuery, or other SQL-based data warehouses is expected.
Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) is required.
Knowledge of testing frameworks such as RSpec, Jest, or pytest is necessary.
Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills are essential.
NICE TO HAVE: Experience working with Data Scientists or deploying machine learning models.
NICE TO HAVE: Experience developing frontend applications using JavaScript and React.
