Description:
Honeycomb is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help build a modern, scalable data platform.
The role involves taking full ownership of the Snowflake data warehouse, DBT models, and diverse ingestion platform.
Responsibilities include designing and maintaining end-to-end solutions for clean, accurate, and well-annotated data access.
The engineer will create robust, production-grade data pipelines and models to enable data-driven decisions across various teams.
Collaboration with engineering, product, sales, marketing, and business stakeholders is essential to translate complex needs into actionable insights.
The role requires establishing best practices for data quality and reliability, setting meaningful SLO metrics, and driving innovation.
The Senior Data Engineer will lead critical projects with a focus on technical excellence and business value.
Requirements:
Candidates must have extensive data development experience, including expert-level SQL and programming skills in a scripting language, preferably Python.
Demonstrated experience with modern data tooling, including MPP Data warehouses like Redshift or Snowflake, and DBT Workflow automation tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect is required.
Experience in implementing structured data models, architectures, and marts, such as Inmon or Kimball, is necessary.
The candidate should have experience collaborating with data analysts, data scientists, and business users with varying levels of data savvy.
Comfort in navigating ambiguous problems is essential, as this is the first Data Engineer hire at Honeycomb.
Bonus experience includes familiarity with Spark, Scala, Terraform, AWS/K8s, Debezium/Flink, managing production-grade data pipelines, exposure to MLOps, and working with CRM and Martech datasets.
Benefits:
The position offers a base pay range of $170,000 - $200,000 USD, or CAD $233,504 - CAD $274,710.
