Description:
Kin is redesigning insurance to be smarter, faster, and centered on the customer, focusing on intelligent pricing and seamless bundling.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will ensure the quality, integrity, and security of Kin’s data assets.
You will be responsible for building out a data lakehouse for enterprise reporting, which includes designing and developing production-ready data pipelines and modeling raw data for downstream reporting.
You will work on a cross-functional project team to design solutions for effective reporting and implement data validation standards and QA procedures.
Your tasks will include optimizing pipeline performance, migrating data warehouse architecture to Lakehouse architecture, mentoring data engineers, and ensuring data security and compliance with regulations.
Requirements:
You must have 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, particularly with data structures and cloud platform environments (AWS preferred).
Experience in ETL performance tuning and cost optimization is required.
You should be familiar with data lake and lakehouse patterns, including open table formats like Iceberg, Hudi, and Delta.
Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and SQL for advanced data processing and querying is necessary.
Expertise in distributed data processing/storage technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop is essential.
Excellent communication skills are required to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
You should be detail-oriented with strong data intuition and a passion for data quality.
Proven ability to model data and build production-ready ETL pipelines handling TBs of data is necessary.
Great time management and prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.
