Description:
Acorns is seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team, which serves as the central data platform for the company.
The team is responsible for delivering a scalable and secure data platform that serves millions of customers by processing Petabytes of app interactions and complex financial data daily.
This full-time position allows for remote work with optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities include interfacing with various business units, understanding data landscape and processes, fixing or enhancing production data pipelines, and optimizing performance of data processes.
The role involves developing new data pipelines, designing data pipelines for accurate business metrics computation, and proposing new solutions for efficiency and scalability.
The Senior Data Engineer will also contribute to Acorns' Data Roadmap, author technical initiatives, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 8 to 10 years of experience with a BS/BA; or 5 years with an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Java, Scala, or Python is required.
Candidates must have 8+ years of software engineering experience in an internet-facing solution.
Strong understanding of object-oriented fundamentals, system design, SQL, and database/data warehouse design concepts is necessary.
Experience in building scalable systems or processes designed to handle billions of records is required.
Familiarity with Test Driven Development, AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or Kinesis, Spark or Databricks, Airflow or Luigi, and Data Quality tools is a plus but not mandatory.
