Description:
Going is a travel-tech company with over 2M subscribers, evolving from a deal-alert platform to a data-powered travel experience.
The Senior Data Engineer will lead the design, building, and scaling of a robust data infrastructure.
This role is crucial for shaping the future of the data ecosystem, ensuring it is scalable, efficient, and supports high-impact decision-making.
The position involves combining technical expertise with strategic leadership and collaborating across teams to enhance data capabilities.
Key responsibilities include designing complex data pipelines and ETL processes, developing and maintaining a data lakehouse, and optimizing data ingestion and storage strategies.
The engineer will create best practices for data engineering, collaborate with data science teams, and ensure high availability and performance of data infrastructure.
The role includes mentoring junior team members and troubleshooting data infrastructure issues.
This position reports to the Director of Data.
Requirements:
A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role is required.
Proficiency in big data technologies such as Spark and Kafka, as well as distributed computing frameworks is necessary.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS EMR, Glue, and Databricks is essential.
Expertise in Python, SQL, and modern data engineering frameworks such as dbt and Airflow is required.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is needed.
A strong track record of delivering scalable and resilient data pipelines is essential.
Experience with advanced analytics workflows and supporting machine learning models is required.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and translate technical challenges into business solutions is necessary.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and data governance best practices is preferred.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to work US-hours.

The starting salary for this role is $165,000 plus equity.
