Crunchyroll is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team, which focuses on building robust, scalable, and efficient data services and pipelines.
The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing data services and pipelines to support business needs and enhance operational data analysis.
The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop tools that empower data and services teams, ensuring an exceptional experience for Crunchyroll fans.
This position is eligible for fully remote work and reports to the Director of Data Engineering - Platform Engineering.
The Data Services team emphasizes 100% automation, best practices, and documentation of data architectures to ensure reliability and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in data engineering, focusing on building and optimizing data pipelines, data architecture, and eventing systems.
Extensive experience with the AWS cloud platform and its data-related services is necessary.
Proficiency in automation frameworks such as Terraform or Cloud Formation is required.
Candidates should be skilled in data lake and pipeline tools and frameworks, including Databricks, Apache Kafka/Kinesis, and AWS Glue.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python or Java, is essential.
A strong understanding of SQL (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, RDS) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB) is required, along with experience enabling analytical queries on these platforms.
Experience with search optimization, including schema design and query tuning, is necessary.
Candidates should have experience in building CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks (e.g., dbt), and best practices in data engineering.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues are essential.
The ability to independently own and execute projects while collaborating effectively with the team is required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers are necessary.
