Description:
Kin is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join their mission of transforming home insurance.
The Data Platform team is responsible for building the data ingestion, processing, and storage infrastructure that supports various teams within Kin.
The role involves developing and supporting infrastructure using data technologies such as Airbyte, Airflow, Databricks, and Flink.
The successful candidate will need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in an agile development environment.
Daily responsibilities may include planning and implementing infrastructure scaling, using Terraform for AWS infrastructure management, administering Fivetran, overseeing Databricks workspaces, identifying infrastructure bottlenecks, and maintaining monitoring systems.
Requirements:
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective teamwork.
The candidate must be able to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and data scientists to understand requirements and provide solutions.
Leadership and mentoring capabilities for junior data engineers are required.
The candidate should provide guidance during product definition, requirements, and design phases.
Close collaboration with Kin’s Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams is necessary to gather and develop business requirements.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is required.
Experience with AWS and its core components (S3, EC2, IAM, and VPCs) is necessary.
Knowledge of Databricks and data lake architectures is essential.
Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles is required.
Understanding of Apache Kafka and distributed system principles is necessary.
Experience with monitoring tools like DataDog or Grafana is required.
