Description:

FloSports is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient data services for next-generation fan experiences.
The role combines Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, and Cloud Engineering.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and fault-tolerant microservices for real-time and batch data processing.
The engineer will build and maintain backend REST APIs focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability.
They will design and implement data models and queries for efficient data storage and retrieval from SQL and NoSQL databases.
The role involves leading data quality initiatives to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and reliability across the platform.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to align on platform requirements and translate needs into effective solutions.
The engineer will review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications, and take ownership of their code in production.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of industry experience with a focus on backend and data engineering.
Experience in building and operating distributed data systems using a microservices architecture is required, along with a solid understanding of best practices for scalability, fault tolerance, performance, and observability.
Proficiency with CI/CD processes is necessary.
A track record of writing high-quality, maintainable code across multiple services and team boundaries is essential.
Leadership skills to guide and support team members, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative team environment are required.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are a must.
Candidates should be able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with ambiguous requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of complex projects, and drive them to completion with minimal supervision is necessary.
Bonus points for direct experience with AWS serverless technologies, NoSQL databases, and stream processing, as well as experience building services using Typescript and Node.js.
