Description:

The Senior Data Platform Engineer role at FloSports combines Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, and Cloud Engineering into a unique and impactful position.
In this role, you will design, build, and deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient data services that form the backbone of Flo’s next-generation fan experiences.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and fault-tolerant microservices supporting real-time and batch data processing.
You will build and maintain backend REST APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
The role involves designing and implementing data models and queries for efficient storage and retrieval of data from SQL and NoSQL databases.
You will lead data quality initiatives to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across the platform.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to align on platform requirements and translate needs into effective solutions is essential.
You will review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications, and take ownership of your code in production.

Requirements:

A professional with 5+ years of industry experience with a focus on backend and data engineering is required.
Experience in building and operating distributed data systems using a microservices architecture is necessary, with a solid understanding of best practices for scalability, fault tolerance, performance, and observability.
Familiarity with CI/CD processes is required.
A track record of writing high-quality, maintainable code across multiple services and team boundaries is essential.
Leadership skills to guide and support team members, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative team environment are important.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required.
The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with ambiguous requirements is necessary.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of complex projects, and drive them to completion with minimal supervision is essential.
Bonus points for direct experience building with AWS serverless technologies, NoSQL databases, and stream processing, as well as experience building services using Typescript and Node.js.
