Description:
thatgamecompany is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to support their flagship title, Sky: Children of the Light.
The role involves providing insights, reporting, knowledge-sharing, and KPI frameworks to aid decision-making and enhance long-term operations of the product.
The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams across marketing, BI, and game development.
Responsibilities include analyzing complex datasets to identify patterns and trends that support user acquisition and organic growth.
The candidate will create and manage dashboards, visualizations, and reports to uncover trends that address strategic and operational questions.
Collaboration with the game development team is essential to define and collect in-game data for analysis, aligning metrics with gameplay and business goals.
The role requires defining and improving critical metrics and frameworks to optimize player lifecycle, loyalty, retention, and return.
Advanced statistical and machine learning techniques will be implemented to optimize user acquisition and marketing campaigns.
The candidate will design and execute experiments to evaluate marketing efforts and generate actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities also include developing and enhancing SKAdNetwork ETL pipelines and attribution methodologies to support data accuracy and campaign analysis.
The role requires working cross-functionally to improve data collection processes and capture meaningful metrics.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
The candidate must have 4+ years of experience in data science for consumer apps or mobile games applications.
Proven experience in user acquisition campaigns and developing data pipelines, reporting, and visualizations is required.
Proficiency in Python (or R), SQL, and statistical modeling tools is essential.
Experience with visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or QlikView is necessary to build compelling data stories.
Familiarity with SKAdNetwork, mobile attribution platforms (e.g., Adjust, Singular, AppsFlyer), and methodologies like media mix modeling is required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to translate complex data findings into accessible insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to dynamic challenges are essential.
