Description:

  • The Senior Data Scientist position is responsible for building the organization’s research and analytic function.
  • The individual will report to the Director of Data Science, Analytics and Research and will engage in all aspects of the research function.
  • Responsibilities include producing externally facing research products, managing external research partnerships, and conducting applied research to support data-informed initiatives.
  • The Senior Data Scientist will utilize advanced training in data science, research methodology, and data visualization to execute the research agenda.
  • Collaboration with Communications and Leadership teams is essential to maximize the impact of public- and constituent-facing research products.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must reside in the United States.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative social sciences discipline or related quantitative field is required.
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in data analysis, data communication, data visualization, data science, or quantitative social science research is necessary.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in data analysis or research in higher education or related fields is required.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and coding with SQL and R is essential.
  • Experience with managing analyses for large-scale datasets and working with imperfect data is required.
  • Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and data visualization tools, preferably Tableau or R, is necessary.
  • Familiarity with publicly available datasets relevant to education is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate findings to non-technical audiences are essential.
  • Proficiency in at least one domain area such as natural language processing, predictive analytics, or clustering analysis is preferred.
  • An advanced degree in a quantitative social sciences discipline is ideal.
  • Experience with cloud computing and Agile frameworks is a plus.
