Description:
The Senior Database Developer will be responsible for enhancing and optimizing existing databases for peak performance.
They will need to find bottlenecks in high volume OLTP environments and deliver optimal solutions.
The role involves understanding database execution plans and using the information to optimize code.
Monitoring and analyzing database performance to ensure effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes.
Collaborating closely with application developers and Product Managers to optimize SQL code and database structures.
Providing technical leadership on database systems and solutions.
Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Contributing to several high-impact projects including optimizing all application touchpoints with the database systems.
Requirements:
Be a technical leader and show ownership of database design.
Have 5+ years of practical experience building and supporting Postgres and Microsoft SQL databases.
Possess extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting, including indexing and ensuring proper join techniques.
Demonstrate excellent SQL programming skills, writing, maintaining, and testing codes using an innovative approach.
Ability to understand complex problems and craft simple solutions that can be maintained by the team.
Experience leading technical projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to participate in and contribute to code management in GitHub.
Comfortable self-directing and prioritizing work.
Adaptable to change and able to work independently and as part of a team.
