Remote Senior Database Manager - Intersystems

Description:

• The Senior Database Manager will be responsible for supporting a government agency based in Tallahassee, FL by focusing on centralization and cloud-modernization of the Department’s Health Management System (HMS).
• Provide subject matter expertise to design and establish the cloud environment for the Centralization of HMS (CHMS) Project Team.
• Perform configuration and optimization of the centralized IRIS instance.
• Collaborate with the CHMS Team to develop the data migration strategy and implement ETL processes.
• Monitor database performance, gather baseline metrics, and develop performance metrics for a centralized instance of the HMS.
• Implement tuning, optimization, and caching strategies for the centralized HMS database.
• Update and patch the IRIS database, implement data redundancy techniques, and ensure data integrity.
• Work closely with developers to optimize database design and access patterns.
• Manage user access levels, permissions, and monitor database access and activities.
• Complete required job training as assigned by the Department.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10 years of experience as a Database Manager managing and optimizing InterSystems IRIS and Cache databases.
• 5 years of experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Extensive experience in multiple database migrations, consolidating and centralizing databases, and designing backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
• Proficiency in tuning databases for performance, automation tools, scripting languages, and DevOps practices.
• Preferably Intersystems IRIS Certification(s) and knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance regulations.
