Description:

  • Square is seeking a Senior Developer Relations Engineer for their Platform team to work on open source software and examples for developers building solutions for Square sellers.
  • The role involves expanding and engaging the developer community, showcasing platform capabilities through examples in multiple languages and frameworks, and representing external developers' feedback internally.
  • Responsibilities include building and growing the Square Developer community, creating technical content, participating in public forums and events, collaborating with product and engineering teams, developing example applications, advocating for the community, and initiating engagement initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will work on open source software to empower the Square Developer community.

Requirements:

  • Desire to advocate for a remarkable developer experience.
  • Experience in building and engaging communities.
  • Track record of self-directed projects, research, or open source contributions.
  • Ability to create high-quality technical content that engages developers.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in exploring specs, API docs, and code to prototype new solutions.
  • Experience in building and deploying client-side and server-side applications.
  • Expertise in at least one modern scripting language (e.g., Ruby, Python, PHP) and one compiled/typed language (e.g., Java, .NET/C#, C/C++).
  • Familiarity with RESTful web services.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and programming languages.
