Remote Senior DevOps Engineer

Description:

• Thrive Market is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their DevOps team, focusing on driving cloud infrastructure and continuous delivery of applications/services.
• The role involves implementing and managing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, identifying and removing bottlenecks in the software delivery process, and promoting best practices for software deployment.
• Responsibilities include architecting, improving, and administering AWS cloud infrastructure and services, automating provisioning, configuration, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code techniques with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• The engineer will manage and optimize large-scale, cloud-hosted MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch databases, ensuring system reliability, availability, and performance.
• The position requires leading efforts for disaster recovery, capacity expansion, and system upgrades, as well as writing and supporting scripts and automation using Python and bash.
• The engineer will enable DevOps engineers and application developers to streamline processes and automate their work, develop and maintain automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment, and automate all aspects of the software lifecycle.
• Conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and system hardening initiatives while ensuring compliance with PCI and SOX is also a key responsibility.
• The role includes implementing and managing monitoring tools, leading incident response efforts, and managing JIRA ticket creation and documentation.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, system administration, or software development.
• Experience in both startup environments and larger organizations is preferred.
• Extensive experience in building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure on AWS is necessary, with AWS certification as a Solutions Architect or similar being a plus.
• Candidates should have experience applying SRE/DevOps/Platform Engineering best practices to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
• Extensive experience managing AWS Aurora databases (Postgres and MySQL) and troubleshooting complex database issues is required.
• Deep knowledge and experience with Docker and Kubernetes are essential.
• Experience using and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform is necessary.
• Candidates must have extensive experience in developing applications using at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Bash, or Go.
• Strong experience in managing Linux-based infrastructure, preferably Debian/Ubuntu, is required.
• Proficiency with modern continuous integration and deployment tools such as Tekton and GitHub Actions is necessary.
• Candidates should have a good understanding of monitoring and systems tools like Logstash, Grafana, Prometheus, and New Relic.
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with effective interpersonal and communication skills, are essential.
• Proficiency with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation is a plus.
