Description:
The Senior DevOps Engineer role is a senior position on the Raintree DevOps team, focused on implementing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) pipelines and building monitoring systems.
Responsibilities include deploying application environments, building scalable support infrastructure, and ensuring the uptime of all Raintree cloud environments in AWS.
Duties involve monitoring system performance using DataDog, optimizing systems, and implementing changes to address issues.
The engineer will provision IAC using AWS, Terraform, and GitHub workflows, manage configuration management tooling, and create runbook documentation for troubleshooting.
The role requires supporting developer teams with deployment systems and applications in the AWS environment.
The engineer will design, deploy, and support containerized (EKS, ECS) and serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync) solutions.
Responsibilities also include performance tuning, cost optimization, troubleshooting Raintree applications and databases, and participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting DevOps pipelines for containerized (ECS or EKS) and/or serverless workloads in AWS.
A minimum of 5 years of system administration experience with Linux and/or Windows in AWS is required, with the ability to work in both OS environments being highly desirable.
Applicants should have 5+ years of experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using AWS, AWS CDK, and Terraform.
Experience with system configuration management using frameworks like Terraform, Salt, or Ansible for at least 5 years is necessary.
Advanced knowledge of supporting AWS environments with Python, Lambda, and other automation methods is required.
Candidates should have experience working with decentralized development teams and supporting CI/CD pipelines for multiple teams.
Advanced knowledge of designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines that meet standards while being adaptable to different application teams is essential.
Applicants must demonstrate advanced knowledge of delivering secure AWS environments.
Experience with advanced AWS networking topologies, such as Transit Gateway and multi-VPC connectivity, is highly desired.
Familiarity with agile scrum methodology and experience maintaining MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases in AWS is a plus.
Experience with deploying and maintaining AWS Organizations with multi-account configurations is also a plus.
