Description:

  • We are seeking a proactive, strategic DevOps Engineer to join us as a founding member of our team.
  • This role will focus on strategic planning and design, where you will be responsible for designing scalable, cost-effective, and efficient solutions while ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and product teams to gather technical and non-technical requirements and translate them into well-architected solutions.
  • Implementation of solutions using AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc. is a key responsibility, along with configuring and deploying solutions using automated tools like AWS, Circle, and Terraform.
  • You will ensure that the architecture and solutions are compliant with AWS best practices and mitigate any security vulnerabilities that might occur.
  • The role involves focusing on performance optimization, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • You will provide technical support on AWS-related issues, monitor solutions, and implement strategies to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
  • Utilizing tools such as IAM, resource tagging, and cost management, you will enforce AWS governance policies and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively address issues.
  • Managing relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, including evaluating proposals and negotiating contracts, is part of the role, ensuring vendor compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
  • You will develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT infrastructure and business-critical IT applications, testing and validating disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of system failures or disasters.
  • Leading the practice of container-based microservices and serverless applications using ECS, EC2, and other cloud-based environments is expected.
  • You will develop code pipelines to automate application, platform, and infrastructure deployment using CI/CD solutions that leverage various technologies, such as Circle CI.
  • Monitoring and developing alerting infrastructures to maintain a stable and performant system, detect anomalies, and create systems for quick recovery from production issues is essential.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to assess cloud requirements and design scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions is a key responsibility.
  • You will evaluate and recommend cloud technologies, platforms, and tools to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Conducting regular security audits and implementing best practices to ensure the integrity and security of the infrastructure is required.
  • You may work as a project leader for projects of moderate complexity and provide technical leadership while promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange amongst the team.

Requirements:

  • A BS or higher degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
  • You must have 7+ years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Strong experience in setting up, maintaining, and automating continuous integration systems is necessary.
  • Fluency in source control management (SCM) tools such as Github, Gitlab, and Git, as well as build systems like Circle CI and Docker, is essential.
  • Experience with automation tools and pipelines like Circle CI and Terraform is required.
  • You should have experience using, managing, and customizing New Relic and Sumo Logic for creating dashboards, alerts, and metrics displays.
  • Expertise with some or all of the following technologies is needed: Redis, Elasticsearch, AWS Aurora, Redshift, MongoDB, EC2, and ECS.
  • Adept programming skills in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and Shell scripting (bash, tcsh, sh) are necessary.
  • A pragmatic approach to solving problems and collaboration is essential for this role.
