Description:
The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a significant role in the development, automation, and security across the company's diverse portfolio.
The role involves using systems like Chef, GitLab, GitLab-CI, Terraform, and Kubernetes to automate the testing and delivery of both Windows and Linux based hosted applications.
There are plans to consolidate on a standard set of tools leveraging GitLab-CI and Kubernetes where possible.
The engineer will support the software development process by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, automating delivery, and implementing testing.
Responsibilities include mentoring other engineers, providing technical leadership for medium to large projects, and offering escalation support for the Tier 2 SRE team in addition to internal DevOps needs.
The role also includes provisioning and maintenance of systems, load balancer configurations, firewall rules, databases, and other automation-driven infrastructure tasks.
Automating CI/CD pipelines to build and deploy software is a key function of this position.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or relevant experience is required.
Candidates should have 6+ years of Software Engineering or Operations support experience.
Comfort with various programming languages such as Ruby, Ansible, Bash, Perl, and Python is necessary.
Good hands-on experience with Ruby is preferred.
Effective communication skills for working across support and engineering departments are essential.
Excellent experience with cloud hosting infrastructure such as Amazon AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure is required.
Candidates must have excellent knowledge of source control management, preferably GitHub and GitLab.
A passion for security and identifying opportunities to improve security and testing is important.
The role requires collaboration with application owners and security vendors to update/tune Web Application Firewall (WAF), API Protection, DDoS, DoS, and bot mitigation security policies.
A good understanding of networking protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SSL, SMTP, and TCP is necessary.
Strong experience working with Akamai’s products and services is required.
Candidates should have strong experience in monitoring and alerting for Akamai CDN/WAF/AAP/ASM.
Strong knowledge of CDN platforms like Akamai, CloudFlare, and Imperva is preferred, with a focus on Akamai.
Experience in CDN migration is also required.
