Description:
Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure) to support a large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide program.
The position is remote and is a full-time role for experienced professionals.
The role requires maintenance and ongoing development of continuous build/integration infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
Responsibilities include managing source control and documentation, creating and maintaining fully automated Continuous Integration (CI) build processes, and writing build and deployment scripts using Ansible, Bash, Python, and GitHub Actions.
The engineer will support CI/CD tool integration, operations, change management, and maintenance, as well as full automation of CI Testing.
The position involves enabling successful release management by moving code from Development and Testing environments to Staging and Production.
The engineer will work closely with software developers, production support, and information security to automate and support infrastructure and tooling in Microsoft Azure.
The role includes applying automated deployment tool sets and infrastructure, performing response activities for operational and security incidents, and providing guidance on agile and DevOps/DevSecOps practices.
Continuous identification of opportunities to automate and save time is also a key responsibility.
Requirements:
Candidates must have exceptional communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Effective communication of ideas and information to diverse audiences is essential.
A highly motivated, self-directed leader is required for this position.
Proficiency with Source Control Management best practices and automation tools is necessary.
Expertise with build automation tools, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, and AWS Codebuild, is required.
Prior experience with DevOps, Ansible, Jenkins, Git, GitHub, Tomcat, Azure Pipeline, and Azure DevOps is essential.
Experience with content management and issue tracking (JIRA) is required.
Candidates should have experience in establishing operational processes, implementing DevOps, and creating deployment checklists.
Knowledge of developing solutions in an iterative (Agile) approach and basic networking concepts is necessary.
Familiarity with system configuration tools and architectural frameworks is required.
Knowledge of source code control management systems and configuration management (Git) is essential.
Candidates should have Linux Admin knowledge, including maintaining/upgrading Linux packages, security, networking, and performance tuning.
An ability to utilize logs (Application Insights, CloudWatch, etc.) for troubleshooting is required.
Knowledge of scripting languages, including Linux Scripting (Bash/Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python, or similar), is necessary.
A recent Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert Certification is required.
Candidates should have 8 years of relevant DevOps experience, with 4 years specifically in CI/CD and support of Microsoft Azure environments.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this specific opportunity, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.
