Description:
ActiveProspect is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer II to help operate and maintain their SaaS products.
The role involves collaborating on developing and maintaining tooling to improve infrastructure automation and deployments in the cloud.
The engineer will work with exciting technologies to build and optimize a platform that services tens of millions of requests per day.
Responsibilities include implementing and upgrading GitOps Kubernetes (AWS EKS/ArgoCD) and serverless (AWS Lambda) deployment patterns.
The engineer will develop tooling to enable product development teams to build and deploy software quickly and efficiently.
They will partner with other engineers to identify optimal cloud infrastructure, networking, and storage design for solutions.
Daily collaboration with team members to drive best practices and identify innovative strategies for successful delivery is expected.
The role includes managing credentials and permissions, ensuring system security and health by monitoring and preventing vulnerabilities.
The engineer will identify, recommend, and implement system improvements to reduce infrastructure costs.
Participation in on-call rotation to ensure production system availability meets SLAs is required.
Assisting in compliance and security policies, SOC II testing, and remediation is part of the job.
Mentoring junior engineers and building talent on the DevOps team is also a responsibility.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 6+ years of experience operating large-scale customer-facing production environments with a focus on uptime and service quality.
Deep proficiency in working in a cloud environment, specifically AWS, is required.
Expertise in Kubernetes and containerization technologies such as EKS, Helm, Docker, ECS, ECR, and GitHub Container Registry is necessary.
Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Automation using Terraform is essential.
Familiarity with implementing a successful CI/CD and GitOps workflow across different teams’ needs using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD is required.
Experience managing distributed database systems like PostgreSQL, RDS, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and MySQL is needed.
Hands-on experience deploying and managing Apache Kafka (Confluent) is a must.
Candidates should be comfortable working within Ubuntu Linux operating systems.
In-depth knowledge of service observability and telemetry tools such as OTel and Datadog is required.
Understanding of Git/Github and typical versioning workflows is necessary.
Familiarity with networking concepts and API Gateways, including Firewalls, ACLs, routing, VPN, and Load Balancers, is expected.
