Description:
Coupa is seeking a Senior Director of Data Platform Operations to lead the Data Platforms Operations team.
The role involves overseeing a diverse data infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
Responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive data platform strategy, collaborating with stakeholders to define data architecture, and designing systems to meet RTO and RPO requirements.
The candidate will administer and optimize relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, and Postgres, and support cloud managed database services like AWS RDS and Aurora.
Ensuring data integrity, performance, and security across platforms, as well as implementing backup and disaster recovery procedures, is essential.
The role requires working closely with data scientists and engineers to integrate AI and machine learning models into data pipelines and leveraging large data sets in Snowflake for AI-driven insights.
Establishing data governance policies, access controls, and compliance frameworks while staying informed about industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, FedRamp, PCI) is crucial.
The candidate will monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.
Evaluating and managing relationships with third-party vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service-level agreements (SLAs) are met is part of the role.
The position includes leading a team of database administrators, cloud engineers, and data platform specialists, fostering a collaborative work environment, and providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
The candidate must have 15+ years of professional experience, with at least 10+ years in database administration, cloud management, or related roles.
Strong knowledge of MySQL, SQL Server, Postgres, and cloud managed data platforms in AWS and/or Azure is necessary.
Familiarity with Snowflake or other data warehousing solutions is required.
A passion for AI and data-driven decision-making is essential.
Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must.
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to support global teams and have the financial capacity to handle licensing and forecasting.
