Description:
Airwallex is seeking a Senior Director of Data & Privacy Legal to lead the global team focused on data localisation, AI, customer information, and product issues.
This role will involve being the primary lawyer for data and privacy issues in the Americas and EMEA regions.
The position supports a complex set of fintech products and requires strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
The Senior Director will collaborate with Business leadership, Engineering, Product, and Information Security teams to implement data regulations such as PIPL, DSL, and Cyber Security laws.
Responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive compliance program, providing privacy counseling to Product teams, and coordinating international data flows.
The role is strategic with executive visibility and involves advising Airwallex’s go-to-market leadership team in the US, Canada, LATAM, and EMEA.
Requirements:
A J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one US state bar, preferably California or New York.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in an in-house legal department and private practice, specifically advising on data and privacy issues in financial services and technology platforms.
Extensive knowledge of US/EU data laws, including PIPL, Data Security Law, and Cyber Security Law, along with familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, PDPA, and PIPEDA.
Proven experience in managing and growing a team of lawyers.
Strong ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences and manage multiple projects effectively.
High motivation, independence, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
A learner’s mentality with a collaborative and empathetic approach to teamwork.
