Description:
Photoroom is seeking a talented Senior Django Backend Lead to join their team.
The role involves leading a team of 2 people to work on a backend infrastructure used by millions of users, handling up to 300 QPS, a 900 GB PostgreSQL DB, and 1000s of TB of content.
The position offers the opportunity to work on the world's #1 GenAI image editor app downloaded over 150 million times, solve complex backend challenges, and have a significant impact on users.
Responsibilities include providing technical leadership, managing the team, defining technical vision and roadmap, owning backend architecture, coding features, monitoring performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The role also involves working within a small multicultural team of around 65 individuals.
Requirements:
Actively participated in scaling a Django codebase to a similar throughput as Photoroom's backend.
5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Django and/or Django Rest Framework.
Track record of managing teams to a high level of performance.
Experience working with relational databases at scale, designing schemas, and running migrations with minimal downtime.
Hands-on experience with a PostgreSQL/MySQL database larger than 100 GB.
Experience with complex architectures, design patterns, and writing clean Python code.
Strong sense of pragmatism, favoring speed of iteration and leveraging frameworks and libraries.
Ability to take initiative, make product and technical decisions, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English.
