Remote Senior Django Backend Lead [Remote in Europe]

Description:

• Photoroom is seeking a talented Senior Django Backend Lead to join their team.
• The role involves leading a team of 2 people to work on a backend infrastructure used by millions of users, handling up to 300 QPS, a 900 GB PostgreSQL DB, and 1000s of TB of content.
• The position offers the opportunity to work on the world's #1 GenAI image editor app downloaded over 150 million times, solve complex backend challenges, and have a significant impact on users.
• Responsibilities include providing technical leadership, managing the team, defining technical vision and roadmap, owning backend architecture, coding features, monitoring performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• The role also involves working within a small multicultural team of around 65 individuals.

Requirements:

• Actively participated in scaling a Django codebase to a similar throughput as Photoroom's backend.
• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Django and/or Django Rest Framework.
• Track record of managing teams to a high level of performance.
• Experience working with relational databases at scale, designing schemas, and running migrations with minimal downtime.
• Hands-on experience with a PostgreSQL/MySQL database larger than 100 GB.
• Experience with complex architectures, design patterns, and writing clean Python code.
• Strong sense of pragmatism, favoring speed of iteration and leveraging frameworks and libraries.
• Ability to take initiative, make product and technical decisions, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent in English.
