Description:

  • Fi is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team in New York, NY, with options for on-site or remote work.
  • The company aims to transform the dog-human relationship through innovative technology, focusing on real-time location tracking, activity, sleep, and behavior monitoring for dogs.
  • The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for embedded systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance optimization.
  • The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware components, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Responsibilities include conducting code reviews, documenting code changes, developing test procedures, and performing rigorous testing to validate firmware functionality.
  • The engineer will also stay updated with emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in firmware/embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages is required, along with an understanding of the differences between them; experience with or eagerness to learn Python is also necessary.
  • Prior exposure to hardware interfaces, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and embedded systems design is essential.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools and methodologies for embedded systems is required.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira) is necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to work collaboratively with hardware engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders are required.
  • Understanding of low-level hardware interactions and device drivers, as well as experience in designing, developing, and testing firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems, is essential.
