Description:
Fi is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team in New York, NY, with options for on-site or remote work.
The company aims to transform the dog-human relationship through innovative technology, focusing on real-time location tracking, activity, sleep, and behavior monitoring for dogs.
The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for embedded systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance optimization.
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware components, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.
Responsibilities include conducting code reviews, documenting code changes, developing test procedures, and performing rigorous testing to validate firmware functionality.
The engineer will also stay updated with emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product capabilities.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in firmware/embedded software development.
Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages is required, along with an understanding of the differences between them; experience with or eagerness to learn Python is also necessary.
Prior exposure to hardware interfaces, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and embedded systems design is essential.
Familiarity with debugging tools and methodologies for embedded systems is required.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira) is necessary.
Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to work collaboratively with hardware engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders are required.
Understanding of low-level hardware interactions and device drivers, as well as experience in designing, developing, and testing firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems, is essential.
