Description:

This position is for a Senior Engineer at Canonical, a company that delivers open source solutions across various computing platforms.
The Senior Engineer will work on operating systems, programming languages, applications, devices, infrastructure, and services using languages like Golang, Python, C, C++, Rust, React, and Flutter.
The role requires exceptional software architecture and coding skills, as well as leadership qualities to lead a team in delivering outstanding products.
The Senior Engineer will partner with an Engineering Manager to take responsibility for team outcomes, focusing on high-quality code, technical leadership, team motivation, exceptional design, and documentation.
Responsibilities include driving the architecture and design of impactful open-source projects, collaborating with a globally distributed team, mentoring colleagues, debugging issues, and contributing to technical documentation.

Requirements:

An exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path.
Demonstrated drive, exceeding expectations, technical leadership, team motivation, and direction.
Well-organized, self-starting, and able to deliver on schedule.
Proficient in at least one of Go, Rust, Python, or C.
Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
Passion for open-source software, innovation, and cutting-edge technology.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks each.
