Description:
The Senior Flight Software Engineer will develop and maintain distributed systems across multiple nodes on various embedded platforms, including real-time operating systems (RTOS) and the Linux kernel.
The role involves driving innovation within the team, encouraging experimentation, and tackling complex problems.
The engineer will represent Loft Orbital in public communications regarding broad initiatives, specific projects, and community contributions.
Interaction with customers and external stakeholders is expected, serving as a consultant and spokesperson for the team's work.
A focus on continuous improvement of technology, tools, and processes is essential.
Requirements:
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ (any version) and Python is required.
Experience with embedded Linux operation, specifically Systemd and Linux on ARM, is necessary.
Familiarity with development processes including Git (gitlab, bitbucket, github, jetbrains space), ticketing systems (jira, redmine, mantis, trac, youtrack), continuous integration (gitlab-ci, teamcity, jenkins, bamboo, travis), and build systems (make, cmake, autotools, bazel) is essential.
Knowledge of distributed application frameworks, such as Message Oriented Middleware (DDS, MQTT, JMS) or Message Queue Frameworks (ZMQ, NNG), is required.
Understanding of software development technologies, including Linux Networking (UDP, TCP, IP), POSIX, and multi-threaded applications, is necessary.
Experience in application domains such as packet serialization/deserialization or data model serialization/deserialization (yaml, json, xml) is required.
