As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Canva, you will collaborate with a diverse team of Frontend, Backend, and Machine Learning Engineers to integrate cutting-edge AI technology into the core editing experience.
Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and implementing solutions for complex Design AI challenges, in coordination with ML engineers, backend engineers, designers, and product managers.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of Canva's core editor functionality and contribute to the team's product roadmap.
The role primarily involves building web-based features using TypeScript, but may also require working with other languages and environments.
You will conduct quantitative and qualitative experiments with the support of a data analyst to enhance user experience.

Experience in problem-solving within complex and ambiguous domains.
Proven track record of achieving product engineering goals in the AI/ML space.
Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, and MobX.
Strong foundation in computer science and engineering principles including asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
Proficiency or keen interest in natural language processing, especially with cutting-edge LLM technology.
Ability to approach problem-solving from a user-centered perspective.
Strong creative problem-solving skills with algorithms.
Capability to break down large projects into manageable tasks and deliver results collaboratively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
