The role involves developing features and defining the foundations for scalable, high-performance travel portals.
You will work on a next-generation lodging, car, and packaging platform, assisting top brands in driving ancillary revenue and enabling Hopper's exponential growth.
The position requires an experienced React engineer who is passionate about building world-class user experiences and reducing long-term maintenance overhead.
The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who balances reusable white-label solutions with tailored customizations for partners.
Daily tasks include collaborating with top-tier engineers in a low-process environment, driving decisions asynchronously, shipping features quickly, and architecting scalable front-end solutions.
You will work closely with product managers and business partners to define and refine the roadmap, and collaborate cross-functionally to give and receive feedback for growth.
Requirements:
Candidates must have deep expertise in React, including functional components, hooks, performance optimizations, server-side rendering, hydration, and advanced state management.
Extensive experience with complex state management tools such as React Context, Redux, Zustand, or similar is required.
Advanced knowledge of CSS, including SCSS, CSS-in-JS, Tailwind, animations, and handling browser quirks is necessary.
Proficiency in TypeScript and experience developing and maintaining enterprise-scale applications is essential.
Experience in optimizing frontend performance through techniques like lazy loading, code-splitting, caching strategies, and Lighthouse optimizations is required.
A strong understanding of frontend architecture and the ability to design scalable, maintainable systems is crucial.
Familiarity with server-side rendering and static site generation, particularly with Next.js for SEO-friendly experiences, is preferred.
Experience working with backend APIs (GraphQL, REST) and efficient data-fetching strategies is necessary.
Familiarity with backend systems and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) is a bonus but not mandatory.
A passion for writing testable code and understanding what to test in front-end applications is important.
