Description:
Diagonal is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer (React) to join their founding engineering team.
This role involves early-stage foundational work where the engineer will design patterns, component systems, and abstractions that will shape future developments.
The position focuses on creating a dynamic component system rather than just building static screens, allowing for the creation of entirely new interfaces.
The work is abstract and systems-oriented, emphasizing the building of primitives rather than just pages.
The ideal candidate will enjoy designing scalable UI architecture and crafting elegant systems that can grow and evolve.
The engineering culture is independent and high-trust, with a fully remote setup where engineers are self-directed but collaborate frequently.
Engineers are expected to be full-stack thinkers, understanding the connection between frontend and backend architecture.
The role is customer-focused, with engineers participating in customer calls to gather feedback and shape product development.
Craft-driven culture encourages contributions to open-source projects and side projects, with a focus on detail and innovation.
Requirements:
Candidates must be based in North or South America to ensure time zone alignment for collaboration.
A minimum of 5 years of professional React development experience is required, with significant experience in building complex, dynamic UIs.
Proven experience in architecting frontend systems from 0 to 1, including building component libraries, design systems, or frontend frameworks.
A strong understanding of React patterns such as hooks, context, and composition, as well as frontend architecture principles, is essential.
Experience with InertiaJS and TailwindCSS is a plus, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating with backend systems is necessary.
A passion for clean, scalable component design and attention to small details that enhance user experience is important.
Excellent communication skills are required, with the ability to collaborate asynchronously, share designs early, and provide thoughtful feedback.
Benefits:
Employees will receive stock options as part of their compensation.
The engineering team operates fully remote, providing flexibility in work location.
Unlimited paid time off (PTO) is offered to all employees.
For US-based employees, top-tier health insurance is provided, covering medical, vision, and dental.
Employees will be equipped with top-of-the-line computers and equipment.
Continued learning opportunities are available, including attendance at Laracon, courses, and access to learning materials.
Paid parental leave is also included as a benefit.
