• The Video AI team at Canva is focused on enhancing online video editing with advanced AI/ML features to enable users to create engaging videos effortlessly.
• The role involves contributing to the development and enhancement of audio and video AI tools for various content types at Canva, such as social media, presentations, whiteboards, and websites.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying solutions to complex problems, collaborating with engineers, designers, and product managers, and owning the entire lifecycle of the code.
• The position requires working on technical decisions related to in-browser and cross-platform video editing pipelines, developing innovative solutions for video and audio composition, and leveraging browser and native APIs for real-time processing of high-resolution video and audio content.
• The Senior Frontend Engineer will collaborate with various teams to research and develop AI features, advocate for engineering needs to non-technical stakeholders, demonstrate initiative and ownership in achieving goals, and identify opportunities for cross-team collaboration.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in JavaScript and the web platform.
• Ability to write performant, reusable code for audio and video processing, as well as UI components, with appropriate testing.
• Experience in developing rich applications using HTML/CSS/JS and knowledge of cross-browser and cross-device development.
• Deep understanding of key browser concepts like the event loop, bubbling/capturing, and rendering pipeline.
• Bonus experience in audio signal processing, video technology, filters and effects, dynamic compositing, HTML video, graphics programming, GLSL/WebGL, TypeScript (or other typed languages), React, and MobX.
