Description:

  • The Senior Frontend Engineer will be part of the Multimedia group's Photo Editing sub-group at Canva.
  • The role involves working on photo editing tools to enhance the creative process for users.
  • Responsibilities include designing and building high-quality, performant, and accessible photo editing features.
  • The engineer will collaborate with product, design, and data teams to improve existing features and introduce new ones.
  • Researching cutting-edge technology and working on graphics programming are key aspects of the role.
  • The position requires a focus on frontend engineering, software architecture, and graphics programming to create a seamless photo editing experience for users.

Requirements:

  • Commercial experience in designing and building web applications, preferably using TypeScript, React, and MobX.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD patterns and various testing techniques to ensure reliable code.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interest in or experience with low-level browser APIs like WebGL, WebGPU, and WebAssembly.
  • Desire to learn and apply concepts such as 3D rendering, image processing, linear algebra, calculus, and color theory.
