Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong background in geospatial products to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in developing, scaling, and maintaining our user-facing geospatial applications and systems.
You will leverage your expertise in geospatial products to develop key user-facing geospatial applications.
You will work with geospatial libraries such as Mapbox and DeckGL to create geospatial solutions.
You will apply your understanding of spatial-temporal data concepts to solve complex geospatial challenges and optimize data processing for real-time applications.
Staying up to date with the latest geospatial technologies and innovations will be essential for continuous improvement.
You will take the lead in developing and continuously enhancing customer-facing features of our geospatial products.
Ensuring that these features align with customer needs, improve user experiences, and drive user engagement will be a focus, emphasizing functionality, scalability, and user-friendliness.
You will architect applications with scalability and performance in mind, ensuring they can handle increased loads and provide a smooth user experience as the user base grows.
Continuously assessing and enhancing the scalability of the existing application by identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations will be part of your responsibilities.
You will collaborate effectively with policy, product, designers, and clients to help design technical solutions and translate them into well-structured and maintainable code.
Championing a culture of knowledge sharing and mentorship within the engineering team will be important.
You will provide guidance, code reviews, and constructive feedback to junior engineers.
Encouraging participation in technical discussions and collaborative problem-solving will empower other team members to make meaningful contributions to projects.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer with a focus on building geospatial products is essential; ideal candidates will have experience at various stages of scale within fast-moving startups.
Strong coding skills in TypeScript and JavaScript are necessary; experience with GraphQL and Node.js is also required.
Strong relational database skills are needed; experience with PostgreSQL specifically is a plus.
Familiarity with geospatial libraries such as Mapbox and DeckGL is required.
You should be able to provide valuable technical insights, helping stakeholders make informed decisions regarding geospatial product features and functionalities.
Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with product teams and clients are necessary.
An understanding of spatial-temporal data concepts is advantageous.
You should be organized, thoughtful, approachable, creative, and rigorous.
A demonstrated bias-to-action, a collaborative working style, and a preference for the right tool for the job are important.
You should enjoy building lean, inclusive, and culturally strong teams.
The ability to excel in a highly-distributed and asynchronous environment is required.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver results efficiently, as the work will be directly customer-facing, are essential.
