Description:

  • thatgamecompany is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to support the flagship title Sky: Children of the Light by developing applications for game operation functions.
  • The internally-developed applications are essential for live-operating Sky: Children of Light, which has millions of active users generating terabytes of data daily.
  • The Full Stack Engineer will report to the Lead Full Stack Engineer and will develop software for applications that support both internal and external customers.
  • Applicants are required to provide a portfolio showcasing previous personal or professional work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify issues and create solutions independently, understanding how to complete tasks from start to finish.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to design and document features with scalability in mind.
  • Build backend APIs and frontend components and pages using Node JS, Next JS, and SQL.
  • Meet weekly with individual team members and the full ITS team to discuss progress and ideas.
  • Interact with various departments to discover and address problems and needs.
  • Contribute to thatgamecompany’s unique culture and vision.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional programming experience is required.
  • Experience in building modern REST APIs in Node.js is essential.
  • Proficiency in writing Typescript packages is necessary.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end JavaScript frameworks such as React, Next, and Hooks is required.
  • Experience in designing data structures and querying relational and non-relational database technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB is needed.
  • Proficiency with the Git version control system is required.
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS and Google Cloud is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and adaptable approach to dynamic challenges are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams is required.
  • A strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes is necessary.

Bonus Points

  • Experience developing with Python and Go is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Project, Datadog, Prometheus, Serverless, CI/CD, Gitlab, Kubernetes, and Terraform is advantageous.
  • Experience with Sky: Children of the Light and its community is a bonus.
