Description:
The Senior Full Stack Rails Engineer will report directly to the Lead Engineer and work alongside a member of the Ruby on Rails core team.
The role involves taking ownership of the existing codebase and helping to extend and scale the bespoke recommendations engine, order management, inventory, shipping, and reporting components.
This position primarily focuses on back-office applications with minimal customer-facing front-end work.
Late night and weekend emergencies are exceedingly rare, almost non-existent.
This is an opportunity to help lead the engineering team of a well-established brand that maintains a startup culture.
The engineer will be responsible for developing sophisticated functionality and data science capabilities, similar to those of Netflix, Amazon, and Stitch Fix.
Requirements:
Candidates must have built, launched, extended, and maintained a business-critical Rails app, gaining valuable insights from their experiences.
Applicants should possess time-tested beliefs about code quality, testing, architecture, database design, ORMs, and build vs. buy tradeoffs, and enjoy sharing these beliefs with colleagues.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable owning the entire product development cycle, including design, development, testing, release, and monitoring.
Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and a passion for auto-deploying to production after successful tests is required.
Candidates should value focused, low-interruption deep work.
Benefits:
The salary range is competitive and based on market standards.
A standard workweek of 40 hours is sufficient for this role.
The position is fully remote, allowing employees to live anywhere that makes them happy.
There is schedule flexibility, enabling employees to work at times that maximize their productivity, with only one regular engineering meeting each week.
Additional benefits include an unlimited budget for books and an allowance for computer and home office expenses.
