Description:
GameChanger is a remote-first tech company based in New York City focused on enhancing youth sports experiences.
The company is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to expand its video capabilities within the GameChanger app.
The role involves leading the video team, which manages the video pipeline, live streaming, and post-game video capabilities.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting video features across the video pipeline stack, including live video ingestion, transcoding, integration, storage, and playback.
The engineer will work with backend video platforms written in TypeScript and provide APIs for other teams.
Collaboration with mobile, web, machine learning, and platform teams is essential for improving user experiences.
The engineer will review designs and code, build internal SDKs and frameworks, and create monitoring systems for operational workflows.
The position requires participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems.
The engineer will also assist in interviewing and onboarding new software engineers.
Requirements:
A background in video and audio streaming, particularly in live-streaming user-generated content, is required.
Understanding of audio and video packaging principles, codecs, and tools such as MPEG Video, HLS, DASH, and FFMPEG is necessary.
Hands-on experience in designing and building live and video on demand streaming workflows is essential.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in programming languages relevant to video, such as C#, Golang, C++, Rust, Python, Node/TypeScript, and mobile languages like Kotlin or Swift, is required.
Familiarity with mobile video broadcasting and optimizing streaming quality across devices is important.
Experience with video players and building internal APIs/SDKs is necessary.
Willingness to mentor and train other teams is expected.
Front-end development experience in web, iOS, or Android is required.
Experience with scalable video pipelines in cloud environments, particularly AWS, is a plus.
Proficiency in CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab is required.
