Description:
GameChanger is a remote-first tech company based in New York City focused on enhancing youth sports experiences.
The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer will lead the expansion of video capabilities for the GameChanger app, which currently allows users to live stream and watch youth sporting events.
The role involves working with a newly formed video team responsible for the entire video pipeline, including live streaming and post-game video capabilities.
The engineer will collaborate with various teams to develop video-related projects, ensuring a scalable and resilient platform for millions of streams and highlight clips.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting video features, building internal SDKs, and creating monitoring systems for operational workflows.
The position requires participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems as needed.
Requirements:
A background in video and audio streaming, particularly in live-streaming user-generated content, is essential.
Candidates must understand audio and video packaging principles, codecs, and tools, including MPEG Video, HLS, DASH, and FFMPEG.
A minimum of 5 years of software development experience in languages relevant to video technology, such as C#, Golang, C++, Rust, Python, Node, and TypeScript, is required.
Familiarity with mobile video broadcasting and the challenges of optimizing streaming quality across devices and networks is necessary.
Experience with video players and designing/building internal APIs/SDKs is required.
Front-end development experience in web, iOS (Swift), or Android (Kotlin) is mandatory.
Experience in building scalable video pipelines in cloud environments, preferably AWS, is a plus.
Proficiency in CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab is required.
