Description:

  • ClassDojo is seeking a Senior Game Engine & Tools Engineer to join the virtual worlds platform team.
  • The role involves working on Dojo Islands, a virtual playground used by millions of kids for collaborative learning experiences.
  • The virtual world is procedurally generated and customizable, aiming for performance and scalability on various devices like chromebooks, tablets, and web browsers.
  • The Engineer will be responsible for developing the proprietary engine and editor for the virtual world using cutting-edge web technologies like WebGL and WebGPU.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional team members in a continuous delivery environment is essential, following agile kanban methodology.
  • The ideal candidate will bring expertise in game subsystems such as rendering, networking, avatars, and performance engineering to deliver a high-quality game experience to players.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in game engine technologies, specializing in areas like rendering, networking, physics, and runtime data models.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex features in a CI/CD environment and online multiplayer experiences at platform scale.
  • Experience in near real-time responsiveness in LiveOps platforms and driving engineering practices with clear outcomes.
  • Familiarity with web development workflows, including Node.js, Javascript, Typescript, and React.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and Platform Infrastructure like AWS Cloud, Terraform, Docker, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Bonus points for experience with WebGL, Playcanvas, and being an open-source code contributor.
