Description:

  • PingWind is seeking a Senior Java Developer with IT experience to support the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • The developer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of custom applications and web services.
  • The role includes the integration of custom software with commercial Imaging products via standards-based exchange protocols using Java.
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens with the ability to obtain federal clearance, with active clearance preferred.
  • The Java Developer will support Senior Developers in evaluating VA environments, performance, and costs, seeking ways to reduce friction and increase efficiency and speed.
  • Responsibilities include working with project leadership and users to define/analyze system requirements and design software solutions using Java.
  • The developer will perform refactoring or repair of existing applications to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Participation in code maintenance, quality management, and automation of DevOps functionality is required.
  • The role involves participating in Agile software development lifecycle activities as part of an Agile team.
  • The developer will work closely with Test Engineers to resolve defects in test and production environments.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline is required.
  • Candidates must have 8 years of experience developing with Java as the primary language, applying process improvement and re-engineering in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of VistA Imaging applications is a plus.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Experience working in and with cross-functional teams and a willingness to be flexible to learn new technologies is required.
  • An outcome-oriented approach focused on delivering value to end users backed by measurable, data-driven results is necessary.
  • Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the medical imaging exchange ecosystem is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance are mandatory.
  • Agile/SAFe experience is preferred.
