Description:

Workato is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join their Data Integration team in Barcelona, Spain.
The role involves collaborating with Product Management, CCE, and Infrastructure teams to deliver Data Integration features.
Ongoing projects include working with major databases using JDBC, asynchronous queries, Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ connectivity, data pipelines (ETL/ELT use cases), CDC triggers for database change tracking, and data insights for analytics and anomaly detection.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing components for database connectivity, messaging connectivity, and data insights, as well as improving backend reliability and troubleshooting production issues.
The candidate will perform code and architecture reviews, support continuous improvement, contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, facilitate knowledge sharing, write efficient code, establish long-term strategies for testing, and ensure compliance with specifications.

Requirements:

A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject is required.
The candidate must have 10+ years of industry experience.
Proficiency in Core Java and experience with relational databases, SQL, and JDBC (such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) is necessary.
Experience in building, deploying, and troubleshooting production-grade systems is essential.
Test-driven development experience is required.
Optional qualifications include technical leadership experience, familiarity with Docker and isolation technologies, experience with Kubernetes and public cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud/Heroku), and automated performance testing.
Additional experience in related fields such as DevOps, PKI, distributed systems, data replication, dynamic languages (Groovy, Ruby, Javascript), messaging systems (Kafka, JMS), and building/deploying REST APIs is a plus.
