Veeva Systems is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their AI team in Lisbon, Portugal, with the flexibility to work remotely.
The role involves developing LLM-based agents for searching and extracting information about Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities include crafting an end-to-end human-in-the-loop pipeline to process unstructured medical documents and performing semantic searches.
The engineer will leverage AWS infrastructure to build, scale, and optimize agents and pipelines for information extraction and question-answering.
The position requires collaboration with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to ensure seamless data pipelines and model refinement.
The engineer will take ownership of the deployment process, ensuring models are integrated into production environments with minimal latency and high performance.
Candidates must reside in the UK, Spain, or Portugal and hold legal work authorization without needing employer support.

Requirements:

Candidates should possess an agile mindset and be professionals in ML operationalization, including CI/CD pipelines and workflow/model management.
Experience with distributed computing platforms such as Ray and Spark, as well as Kubernetes for inference, is required.
A solid understanding of deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or JAX is necessary.
Hands-on experience in in-house training and inference of LLMs is essential.
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or in relevant roles is required.
Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in cloud development, ideally in AWS.
Strong analytical skills, data curiosity, collaboration skills, and effective verbal and written communication are necessary.
Experience in start-up environments and being a team player with high energy and ambition are important.
