Description:
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer position at Tumblr involves joining the Feeds Experience team to work on backend systems that power core content feeds, search, personalization/discovery experiences, user-interest profiling, content understanding, and notifications.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the team to enhance engagement on feeds, notifications, content discovery, and search relevance, developing algorithms, data pipelines, and backend services to match users with relevant content, researching and developing new features to improve user engagement, defining success metrics, launching A/B tests, and contributing to the team's strategy and roadmap.
The role requires working with open-source big-data frameworks like Apache Spark and Apache Flink, as well as programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, and PHP.
The position involves communicating effectively with stakeholders, being goal-driven, humble, and willing to learn and teach, as well as excitement to work in a globally distributed team.
Requirements:
Good understanding of statistics, machine learning, and mining massive datasets.
3+ years of experience developing large-scale data pipelines and machine learning approaches for content retrieval, ranking, relevance, and personalization.
5+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in Python, Scala, Java, and PHP.
Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and Apache Flink at scale.
Excellent written English and communication skills.
