Remote Senior Machine Learning Software Engineer

Description:

• The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join a remote team spread across UTC -5 to UTC +3.
• The position reports to the Machine Learning Engineering Manager, Ilias Sarantopoulos.
• Responsibilities include planning, developing, training, documenting, deploying, and managing production machine learning models.
• The role involves collaborating with product teams, SREs, researchers, and the volunteer community to enhance Wikipedia and similar projects.
• Working with internal and external customers to build, deploy, and manage scaled machine learning models.
• Communicating with customers to assess needs, scope out appropriate tooling, gather training data, train models, deploy models, and monitor them over time.
• Helping other teams at the Foundation and the broader community understand the team's work.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in an MLE and/or MLOps role deploying production models.
• Proficiency with popular Python ML libraries.
• Strong English language skills.
• Experience working with global coworkers.
• Experience with remote work and/or async work.
• Ability to work collaboratively on remote teams.
• Experience with volunteer communities and open-source software development.
• Positive and solution-focused attitude.
• Self-motivated.
