Description:
The position is for a Senior Network Engineer focused on Federal Cloud Networking, providing 24x7 support for Government Cloud infrastructure.
This is a 2nd Shift role with work hours from 4 pm to 1 am Pacific Time.
The work schedule starts as a 5X8 Day work week (Monday to Friday) with no on-call rotation and includes shift bonuses for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
The shift will eventually transition to a 4X10 Day work week (Sunday to Wednesday OR Wednesday to Saturday).
Responsibilities include designing and deploying networks based on business and technical requirements, troubleshooting networks, and leading the engagement in outage mitigation.
The role involves validating problem descriptions, performing detailed problem diagnosis, and tracking issues in a trouble-ticketing system.
The engineer will engage in proactive analysis of network parameters to prevent outages and prepare for planned changes in the production environment.
Participation in a rotating on-call schedule with other team members is required, including weekends.
The engineer will collaborate with teams for software code upgrades and device maintenance, and provide mentorship to the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team.
Feedback on design issues and input into new initiatives will also be part of the role.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a solid foundation in networking, including routing, switching, security, and load balancing.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with cloud computing technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform is required.
Experience with Azure Core Platform (Compute, Storage, Networking) and Azure Web Apps is necessary.
Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using DevOps tools is desired.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience working on Internet and data center networks.
A solid understanding of network technologies such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, HSRP/VRRP, IPSEC, and SNMP is essential.
Deep hands-on experience with TCP/IP protocols and tools like Wireshark is required.
Familiarity with Cisco IOS and JunOS operating systems is necessary, along with knowledge of F5 and Cisco ASA.
Experience with network monitoring applications is a plus.
Strong communication skills, empathy for customers, and the ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment are important.
Candidates must be US citizens, US naturalized citizens, or US Permanent Residents due to federal requirements.
