Remote Senior Network Engineer (Remote, Pacific Time Zone)

Description:

• Blink Health is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to manage the company's routing, switching, VPN, and firewall infrastructure at office locations and in the cloud.
• This position is remote but requires coverage during Pacific Time Zone operational hours (9am to 6pm).
• Responsibilities include managing, monitoring, and maintaining Blink’s network infrastructure, which includes Aruba & Meraki switches/WAP, Palo Alto firewalls/VPN, AWS VPC, and AWS Transit Gateway.
• The engineer will serve as a technical architect and consultant to other engineering teams, assisting with network design and troubleshooting in a microservices and container-based environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• The role involves collaborating with IT leadership on projects, identifying new products and solutions, and researching potential solutions.
• The engineer will promote good network design practices, emphasizing secure and compliant implementations, redundancy/high availability, and automation.
• Mentoring and training service desk technicians to provide level 1 support is also a key responsibility.
• The engineer will act as the technical escalation point for network issues and will configure, harden, and patch network devices and services according to security best practices.
• Monitoring security alerts and investigating security incidents is part of the role, along with maintaining technical documentation about the systems managed.
• Communication with stakeholders regarding incident progress and upcoming changes or scheduled downtime is essential.
• Participation in on-call support rotation is required, with duties primarily focused on network administration while providing backup for Windows and Linux server administration.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience managing on-prem and cloud network environments.
• Experience in network design and troubleshooting in a cloud-based microservices environment (AWS, Kubernetes) is required.
• Expert-level knowledge of enterprise network protocols and platforms such as IPSec, VPN, DNS, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, AWS VPC, Security Groups, peering, and routing is necessary.
• A deep understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies and their impact on network performance and design is essential.
• The ability to manage an integrated cloud-based (AWS) and physical office-based infrastructure is required.
• Strong understanding of network security requirements and best practices, along with the ability to analyze and respond to security incidents, is needed.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools including Wireshark, tcpdump, Fiddler, PRTG, Nagios, NewRelic, Grafana, and nmap is necessary.
• Mid-level Windows and Linux server administration capabilities are required.
• Experience in writing and documenting detailed project proposals is essential.
• Candidates should have experience working with vendors to solve issues, discuss roadmaps, and implement improvements.
• The ability to adapt and solve problems in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate with others, are required.
• Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA, or Network+ are a plus.
