Description:

Loft Orbital is seeking a Senior Platform and Tooling Software Engineer to join their Cloud Infrastructure Team.
The role involves designing, building, and maintaining core platform services, internal developer tools, and scalable infrastructure for satellite missions.
Responsibilities include architecting and building backend services, APIs, and libraries for multi-cloud infrastructure.
The engineer will develop internal tooling to streamline software development lifecycles, observability, and deployment.
The position requires optimizing distributed systems for robustness, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Collaboration with engineering and operations teams is essential to understand workflow pain points and enhance productivity tools.
The engineer will provide documentation, training, and guidance to empower teams in utilizing the services and tools developed.
Advocating for best practices in Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, and reliability patterns is a key aspect of the role.

Requirements:

A strong software engineering background with proficiency in a modern programming language such as Python or Go is required.
Experience in designing and running large-scale, microservices-based distributed systems with high availability and resiliency is essential.
A proven track record in creating and supporting developer productivity tools, including CI/CD pipelines and observability stacks, is necessary.
Multi-cloud expertise is required, including managing systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure, and designing cloud-agnostic systems.
Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively liaise with cross-functional stakeholders and deliver complex technical solutions.
A problem-solving mindset is essential, with a resourceful and curious approach to working in a rapidly changing environment.

The salary range for this position is between $140,250 and $190,000 per year, based on education, experience, and skills.
